Webb County Drainage District No. 1 joins TxDOT, City of Laredo, and Regional Mobility Authority to open Los Presidentes Arterial Road to the Public

The Webb County Drainage District No. 1 joined TxDOT, City of Laredo, and RMA to officially open the Los Presidentes Arterial Road to the public on February 1, 2023. This 0.81-mile road project was developed in cooperation with four (4) public entities to improve first responder access and response time and increase public safety and mobility by providing an alternate route to Cuatro Vientos Road to upgrade the level of service along SH 359.

This project meets the criteria of a complete street with 4 travel lanes with center median and 10’ shared use paths following City of Laredo VIVA comprehensive initiatives by forming a street network that supports driving, walking, bicycling and public transit. Additional improvements included upgrading the water distribution network and preparing for future growth. This project combined the City’s tree and irrigation ordinance with xeriscape landscape initiatives to install landscaped improvements that reduce water consumption.

Crane Engineering served as the project engineers for planning, design and project management. MTZ Construction constructed this all-concrete road valued at $5.4 million dollars. The WCDD provided $950K to cover drainage improvements for the project.
