Elections for directors of the District are conducted on the May uniform election date in even-numbered years. The next election for members of the Board of Directors of the District is scheduled to be conducted on May 7, 2022.

In order to be qualified to serve as a director of the Webb County Drainage District No. 1, a person must satisfy the requirements of Section 141.001(a) of the Texas Election Code, which requires that a person (1) be a United States citizen; (2) be at least 18 years of age; (3) have not been determined by a court to be mentally incapacitated; (4) have not been convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned; (5) have resided continuously in Texas for 12 months and in the District for 6 months; and (6) be registered to vote within the District’s territory.

A person who desires to be a candidate for a director election must timely complete and submit an application for a place on the ballot for the election.  Information regarding applications for a place on the ballot for the May 7, 2022 election is posted on the District’s website.  The deadline for filing the application for a place on the ballot is 78 days prior to the election (February 18, 2022).  The deadline for write-in candidates is 74 days before the election (February 22, 2022).
