WHEREAS, the Webb County Commissioners Court ordered, pursuant Lo Sections 49 .102 and 49. I 06 of the Texas Water Code, that notice be given and that an election he held within the boundaries of the proposed Webb County Drainage District No. 1 on November 7. 1995, to determine if the proposed district shall be established and whether the district should be authorized to issue bonds in the amount of $18,929,050.00 to fulfill the purposes of the district as described in the engineer’s report on file with and approved by the Webb County Commissioners Court; and, whereas, on October 10, 1995, the Webb County Commissioners Court appointed the undersigned as Temporary Directors of the proposed Webb County Drainage District. No. 1 pursuant to and for the purposes described in Section 49.102 of the Texas Water Code
In order to be qualified to serve as a director of the Webb County Drainage District No. 1, a person must satisfy the requirements of Section 141.001(a) of the Texas Election Code, which requires that a person (1) be a United States citizen; (2) be at least 18 years of age; (3) have not been determined by a court to be mentally incapacitated; (4) have not been convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned; (5) have resided continuously in Texas for 12 months and in the District for 6 months; and (6) be registered to vote within the District’s territory.
A person who desires to be a candidate for a director election must timely complete and submit an application for a place on the ballot for the election. Information regarding applications for a place on the ballot for the May 7, 2022 election will be posted here in the future. The deadline for filing the application for a place on the ballot is 78 days prior to the election. The deadline for write-in candidates is 74 days before the election.
