Elections for directors of the District are conducted on the May uniform election date in even-numbered years. The next election for members of the District’s Board of Directors is scheduled to be conducted on May 4, 2024.
In order to be qualified to serve as a director of the Webb County Drainage District No. 1, a person must satisfy the requirements of Section 141.001(a) of the Texas Election Code, which requires that a person (1) be a United States citizen; (2) be at least 18 years of age; (3) have not been determined by a court to be mentally incapacitated; (4) have not been convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned; (5) have resided continuously in Texas for 12 months and in the District for 6 months; and (6) be registered to vote within the District’s territory.
A person who desires to be a candidate for a director election must timely complete and submit an application for a place on the ballot for the election. Information regarding applications for a place on the ballot for the May 4, 2024, election is posted on the District’s website. The deadline for filing the application for a place on the ballot is 78 days prior to the election (February 16, 2024). The deadline for write-in candidates is 74 days before the election (February 20, 2024).
